Project Description

September saw the inaugural Homebase Charity Ball – “Strictly Homebase, Supporting People with Dementia”.  As the name suggests the event was “strictly” themed and equally popular too!

TMB’s Solution

Where else do you hold an event of this magnitude but the Hilton in London’s prestigious Park Lane? After being entertained at the drinks reception guests were dazzled by a team of professional dancers followed by “Strictly” favourites, Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag.

No self-respecting Strictly event could be without a dance competition. Four couples from Homebase and one couple form Bosch volunteered or… were volunteered for this. Their hours of training with professional choreographers were put to the test as they performed their individual dances on the night. Judges were supplied by Homebase, the CEO of Alzheimer’s Jeremy Hughes and Alzheimer’s Ambassador, TV’s Mrs Eamon Holmes – Ruth Langsford.

The atmosphere was electric during both the competition and the results. Whilst votes were being counted and verified the main fundraising event of the evening, the Live Auction, took place.

Winners announced and mirror ball trophies presented the party could begin with the headline act and former Strictly 2013 contestant Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The evening was superbly managed by the voice of Strictly, The Lottery and Radio 2 – Alan Dedicoat.

TMB Events provided all on site management, production, décor, theming, entertainment and venue liaison.

The Outcome

The event managed to do good on so many levels! Tens of thousands of pounds donated to charity, increased awareness of dementia as a dominant condition in modern British society, an energized Homebase organization, plenty of positive PR and on an individual level, a night to remember. Perhaps even a turning point for better, for some.’
